Donna Wall is a retired nurse anesthetist who has turned her passion for pencil art into a vibrant second act. Years ago, at the encouragement of a good friend, Donna took a "Drawing with the Right Side of the Brain" class. This class revealed a talent and sparked an interest in portraiture. Over the next few years, she drew a handful of portraits as a way to stay connected to her creative side.
In 2020, during the global pandemic lockdown, Donna reignited her artistic journey by taking an online drawing course with renowned artist J.D. Hillberry. The skills she developed in the course led her to further refine her craft, and since then, she has attended several in-person workshops with Hillberry, as well as numerous classes at Mooresville Arts, Cabarrus Art Guild, and the Cain Center for the Arts. Pencil drawing has since become her true passion, with a hyperrealistic focus on portraits, pet portraits and wildlife with an occasional foray into still-life drawings.
Outside of her artistic endeavors, Donna is deeply family-oriented. She and her husband are proud to have three sons, two daughter-in-laws, and six grandchildren. Donna is an avid enthusiast of many other hobbies, including pickleball, Mah Jongg, hiking, reading, and traveling with her family.
Donna and her husband reside in Davidson, N.C, where she continues to find joy and fulfillment in her art, capturing the likeness and spirit of the people, pets, and objects she loves with every pencil stroke.
